New Round of Project Managers Showcase Skills
Congratulations to the 35 participants who completed the Freese and Nichols Project Manager Certification course.
The final step, Presentation Day on Aug. 7, featured learning on multiple levels. In seven different rooms across the Fort Worth office, course participants took turns presenting a project to panels of senior leadership members. Presenters explained the project, its hurdles, client-relations expectations, internal and external communications, Key Focus Indicators and lessons learned. Reviewers — including direct supervisors, division managers, principals and vice presidents — then asked questions and shared perspectives and additional tips for success as a project manager.
The certification course included four day-long workshops plus homework: videos, assessments and surveys. Several participants said the assessments helped them examine and improve on their own management style. Gathering in Fort Worth for the presentations gave staff another chance to spend time with company leaders and colleagues from across the company.
Alan Greer, Chief Business Development Officer-Infrastructure, Fort Worth, served as a reviewer for the presentations and also offered feedback.
“It’s great to know the high quality of PMs we’re bringing up,” he said. “The future of the company depends on the growth of people like you.”
The reviewers and managers took the participants to lunch afterward to celebrate and share more wisdom.
Georgia engineer Ryan Ellena said he enjoyed learning more about reinforcing great customer service.
“I really enjoyed the discussion on how to avoid scope creep on projects while maintaining client relationships. It’s helpful in getting the different speakers’ expertise on different techniques when working with clients.”
