Scott Cole Selected for Missouri S&T Academy of Civil Engineers
Congratulations to Scott Cole, Assistant Division Manager, Fort Worth, on becoming a member of the Missouri University of Science and Technology Academy of Civil Engineers. This select group recognizes outstanding civil engineers for their contribution to the profession, leadership and involvement with Missouri S&T.
Scott is a third-generation alumnus of Missouri S&T, formerly known as the University of Missouri–Rolla. His nomination was sponsored by Account Director Eric Potts, who has been a member of the Academy since 1999. Scott will be formally inducted into the Academy on April 7.
This year, Missouri S&T is celebrating its 150-year anniversary and the Academy of Civil Engineers is celebrating 50 years. Over this history, fewer than 300 alumni have been selected for the Academy of Civil Engineers.

Scott Cole of Fort Worth, Texas, earned his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Missouri S&T in 2001. He is a Vice President/Principal and Assistant Division Manager at the Freese and Nichols engineering firm, where he has led over 50 engineers and GIS professionals. He has led more than 100 water and wastewater infrastructure studies, master plans, capital improvement plans (CIPs), and impact fee studies. He specializes in hydraulic modeling, master planning, water quality, and asset management of water and wastewater systems. Scott is nationally recognized specialist in water system modeling and a Member of the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) engineering Modeling Applications Committee that established standards for hydraulic modeling and co-author of AWWA’s M32 Computer Modeling of Water Distribution Systems manual. He has also conducted hydraulic model workshops for utilities across the United States.
A dedicated professional Scott has presented over 40 technical papers at various conferences and seminars including the Texas Water Conference, AWWA Annual Conference and Exposition, AWWA Distribution System Symposium, AWWA Water Infrastructure Conference, AWWA Water Quality Technology Conference, Texas ASCE Conference, Southwest AWWA, and Missouri AWWA Conference.
A licensed professional engineer in CO, FL, GA, MO, NC, and TX, Scott is a third-generation Miner whose family spans generations of Miner Pride. With entry of his daughter Allison as a Freshman in 2020, majoring in biochemical engineering and a member of the women’s soccer program, the Cole family legacy will continue. His technical competence, high moral and ethical standards, demonstrated commitment to quality mission accomplishment and care for people and community has distinguished himself in both his professional and community circles. Scott is a teacher, mentor and coach for generations of water modelers and planners, leaders and students.
Scott has been married to his wife, Amy, for 22 years; their daughter Marissa is a senior at the University of Oklahoma (Civil Engineering).
