Texas Water 2019 Awards

Many of our Freese and Nichols employees serve on professional organizations. At the 2019 Texas Water conference this week, a few of our employees were recognized for their dedication and service to the Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT) and the Texas Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA).

WEAT Organization

Mazen Kawasmi, Adam Conner, Rebecca Diviney, David Bennett, Allison Blake, Elle Frier, Nick Landes and David Jackson are just some of our employees who serve on WEAT committees.

AWWA Silver Water Drop Award

David Jackson, our Water/Wastewater Treatment Practice Leader, second from right, received the AWWA Silver Water Drop Award, given to members who have achieved 30 years of service to the water community and AWWA.

AWWA Life Membership Award

Tom Gooch, our Lead Technical Professional for Water Resource Planning, far right, received the AWWA Life Membership Award, given to members who previously achieved Silver Water Drop Award status and are now at least 65 years old.

WEAT Trashiest Section Award

The WEAT North Texas Section was named the Trashiest Section for 2019. This award goes to the section that demonstrates the most overall effort embodying the Clean Shores Challenge; it considers the amount of trash collected, the size of the area that was cleaned up, collaboration with other organizations and the community, and the enthusiasm and participation of volunteers as seen through photos submitted and social media posts. Freese and Nichols treatment engineers Allison Blake, third from left, and Elle Frier, fourth from left, were among the members representing the section at Texas Water.

Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers

Treatment engineer Allison Blake, fifth from left, and utilities engineer Rebecca Diviney, sixth from left, received the WEAT 5s Award. The 5s (Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers) shovels are awarded to those who have shown “outstanding, meritous service above and beyond the call of duty,” recruiting at least five new members, or those who have shown exceptional service. To join the prestigious society, you must be selected on a basis of merit.
