TX-APWA Shares Data on Public Agencies’ COVID-19 Response

The Texas Chapter of the American Public Works Association is asking public works officials and their teams to share how they’re dealing with the challenges arising from the COVID-19 outbreak. The responses are being compiled to track responses and create an up-to-date repository of information about the rapidly changing situation.

The chapter is making the data available on its website, with updates provided as more comments and questions are received.

Public agency representatives are sharing information about such details as adjustments to their workforces, precautions taken to protect employees and impacts on budgets.

Respondents also have asked an array of questions, including about how other agencies are preparing to handle natural disasters with skeleton crews; dealing with shortages of repair parts; defining critical services versus noncritical; and planning for the possibility of employees contracting the virus.
